FAQ

Dependent Coverage

Q.Does BahamaHealth cover college-age dependents wherever they go to school?
A.Yes, as long as they are not married or employed full-time (not including employment during school-breaks) and are enrolled as full-time students, they can be covered by BahamaHealth to a maximum age of 25 years old. A student letter or student verification form must be submitted from the school confirming full-time enrollment twice a year (Fall and Winter Semesters).

Group & Individual Coverage

Q.At what age will my coverage terminate?
A.BahamaHealth plans do not have a termination age. Group coverage extends as long as an employee is actively employed. In addition, a member’s company may provide Retiree Coverage. Members should consult with their employers in this regard. After twenty four (24) months of continuous enrollment, BahamaHealth allows conversion of a member’s group coverage to an individual policy should the member’s employment terminate. However, coverage is only guaranteed for the Value 500 plan and the conversion documents (Individual application and Evidence of Insurability forms must be submitted within 31 days of the termination date. (This implies that one can join a plan at any stage in life, which is not correct.)
Q.Does BahamaHealth offer individual coverage?
A.YES An individual plan is available with benefits similar to those for group coverage. Contact one of our very knowledgeable and helpful Agents at 396-1400 for additional information and/or to complete the individual application process.

About Making Changes

Q.How often can I change the BahamaHealth plan that I’m enrolled in?
A.At each policy anniversary, you have the opportunity to upgrade your plan. However, you will have to complete the necessary forms and the upgrade is not guaranteed but will be subject to underwriting review.
Q.How do I go about making changes in my address, telephone number and email address?
A.A completed Advice of Change Form or letter from the policy owner must be submitted to BahamaHealth.
